Clip-in hair extensions are the fastest way to go from your everyday hair to long, thick, salon-worthy length — no appointment, no commitment, and no damage to your natural hair. Here's everything you need to know before you buy your first set.
How clip-in hair extensions work
Each set is made up of individual wefts, small strips of hair with tiny fabric-backed clips sewn along the top edge. You section your natural hair, snap each weft in against your scalp weft by weft, and let your own hair fall over the top to blend everything together. A full set takes most people five to ten minutes to apply once they've done it a few times.
Choosing the right length and weight
Sandy Bella's clip-in hair extensions come in two lengths — 20″ and 24″ — at 160 grams and 200 grams respectively. As a rule of thumb: 20″ sets add noticeable length without looking obviously "extended," while 24″ sets are for a more dramatic, red-carpet length. Both weights are built for fullness, not just length, so even fine hair gets real volume.
Choosing the right color
For a full walkthrough of shade-matching (including two-tone and ombré hair), see our Hair Color Matching Guide.
Extensions don't need to match your natural color exactly — they need to match the mid-lengths and ends of your hair, since that's what they'll sit against. If you're between two shades, size down to the lighter one; it's easier to blend a slightly lighter piece into darker roots than the reverse. Sandy Bella's shade range runs from #1 Black through ash brown, chestnut, honey and reddish blonde, pure blonde, and dimensional highlight blends, so most natural colors have a close match.
How long do they last?
With proper care, a well-made set of 100% Remy human hair clip-ins lasts a year or more of regular wear. Remy hair keeps its cuticle intact and aligned in one direction, which is what keeps the strands smooth and tangle-free set after set — lower-grade hair without aligned cuticles tangles and mats much faster. For the full wash, storage, and styling routine, see our Clip-In Hair Extensions Care Guide.
Can you style them?
Yes — 100% human hair clip-ins curl, straighten, and hold product exactly like your own hair. Use a heat protectant before any hot tool, and keep your iron under 350°F to protect the cuticle over time.
Want something even more custom?
For a fuller, salon-level result, Sandy Bella's Designer Collection is handmade and sewn to order in 2, 3, or 5-piece sets per color, built for maximum thickness and a completely seamless blend.
